Bleh.. photoing this was a problem, I never have good lighting or a camera... boo...

Anyway, this is the painting I did when at the zoo, most of the tiger and background was done on site, but the branches (which I'm not very happy with >>; )were finished later. I need to just not use masking fluid because it always ends up messing everything up =\ well... aside from the branches, I like it a lot x3

the birds were a challenge because I was going to put them in at the start, but I forgot so I have to use white gouche to cover the green >>;... add it was just a terrible mess.... the paint didn't cover well, then coated the surface so thickly I couldn't use colored pencil on top very easily and when I tried to use normal paint the gouche would revive and get everything muddy and gross >P... well.. it was a learning experience at least.

I wish I had more time on the whole thing but the zoo event was only like 5 hours, then they gave us 2 more days, but this was all right in the thick of finals so I didn't get much more work beyond the actual zoo event =\ Plus is was horrible weather that day and it was cold and wet, so it took forever to dry anything in the open...

Meh... anyway, glad with what I have. Sorry to go on a rant there but it was just a huge cluster fuck at the end of the semester and this in addition... This piece will go on exhibit... in June sometime? I don't remember, but after a month of exhibition, there will be a zoo party and each artwork (a total of 15 artist were accepted) will be silently auctioned and the proceeds go to the zoo =) it's a pretty nice cause and good exposure. ~FlameRaven was also in it so go check out her piece ;)

Thanks for looking!

Looks great! I really like the little sparrow down by his paw.

I hear you on the mixed media issues. I've had to cover stuff up with white acrylic before... it's even more impossible to work over than gouche.

The exhibit goes up June 1 in the White River Gardens half of the zoo, then the auction is on August 23rd, I think. Maybe we can visit the zoo again this summer, on a nicer day. I want to see their new bird exhibit, and that doesn't go up until after Memorial Day.
