Description
Sailor Moon was my first anime and has stuck with me since then. Sure it can be a bit silly and strange, but there is something so charming and wonderful about it that even years later I still watch it again and again. I wanted to properly express my love for this series, so I was lucky to have found a contest with just that focus as well x3 Of course, I am happy to make this anyway and would have made it without the contest, especially with the arrival of Sailor Moon Crystal next month!! (woooo!!!)
Here's what I wrote for my entry (I only had 100 words, but I have so much more to say...):
"Growing up, I was very introverted. My dad was in the Navy, and we would uproot and move ever couple of years. It was hard to constantly make friends then loss them, and I often felt alone. Then I discovered Sailor Moon and my eyes were open to a whole new world and idea. I loved every character, every adventure, and fell deeper into a world where I could imagine my own characters and adventures. Because of Sailor Moon I learned about Japanese culture, manga, comics, and art. Without this wonderful series, I wouldn’t be the artist I am today."
I still remember that Luna Plushies I had, along with the Luna P toy and a Sailor Moon planner I had. I wish I still had them but I think I lost a lot of my old things when I moved out ;__; Anyway, I really am grateful for the impact Sailor Moon has had on my life, and it has let me grow so much as a storyteller, an artist, and a person. I know it sounds ridiculous for a magical girl anime to mean so much to me, but when I was younger this was more real to me than a lot of other things. Maybe it was a form of escapism, but if it helped me to get the imagination I have today, I'll take that any day over "reality" lol
Ok, enough sappy stuff. Thank you for looking
